Symptoms You're Experiencing

This guide is for you if:

  • Your internet connection is generally stable and fast (you can watch YouTube just fine)
  • Your singleplayer world loads fine and you can play normally
  • Connecting to a server or friend is very slow and the world doesn't load
  • Your friend may see you move, but you can't do anything
  • You're on Windows (this affects both Wi-Fi and Ethernet)

Why Does This Happen?

Hytale uses the QUIC protocol for network communication. Some network devices (especially Intel and Realtek adapters) have rare driver issues that don't fully support it.

This is a known problem that will most likely not see a driver update. The good news? Simple settings changes can fix it.

Confirming the Issue

Connect a USB Ethernet dongle to your computer and try connecting through that. If it works, the solutions below will fix your issue.

Step 1: Access Network Adapter Settings

  1. Open Start Menu and type "View network connections"
  2. Select the Control Panel link
  3. Right-click your network connection → "Properties"
  4. Click "Configure"

View network connections

Solution 1: Disable Priority & VLAN

This is the most common fix:

  1. Go to the "Advanced" tab
  2. Find "Priority & VLAN"
  3. Set to "Priority & VLAN Disabled"
  4. Click "OK" and test the connection

Disable Priority and VLAN

Solution 2: Disable Receive Segment Coalescing

  1. Find "Recv. Segment Coalescing (IPv4)"Disabled
  2. Find "Recv. Segment Coalescing (IPv6)"Disabled
  3. Click "OK" and test

Disable Receive Segment Coalescing

Solution 3: Disable Power-Saving Features

  • Advanced EEE → Disabled
  • ARP Offload → Disabled
  • Energy-Efficient Ethernet → Disabled
  • Flow Control → Disabled
  • Green Ethernet → Disabled

Disable power saving settings

Additional Fixes

Check Your System Time

Hytale's authentication requires accurate system time. Enable "Set time automatically" in Windows date/time settings.

Update Network Drivers

Visit your adapter manufacturer's website for the latest drivers.

Try a USB Ethernet Adapter

A cheap USB adapter ($10-20) can bypass your built-in adapter's issues entirely.
